What does a Competition Checkup actually look like?
A DFW cleaning-market sample
For this sample, we selected Blanca’s Cleaning Service, a small business serving the Dallas–Fort Worth market, and evaluated it as we would a client engagement: who are the leading competitors, how does the business compare, what are others offering, and where may opportunity be getting left on the table? Our cleaning-market sample is a research example, not a client result.
01: Pricing transparency is becoming part of the product
Several competitors make it easier for customers to understand pricing before making contact through published starting prices, ranges, discounts, or quote tools.
02: Existing services may be under-merchandised
The featured business’s broader public presence showed services and capabilities that weren’t being communicated as clearly on its primary website.
03: Competitors are deliberately building recurring revenue
Several competitors use recurring-service discounts or introductory offers to turn one-time customers into repeat customers.
04: The opportunity wasn’t simply “charge less”
Our analysis pointed toward clearer offers, stronger service presentation, easier price comparison, and a more deliberate recurring-customer strategy, not a race to the bottom.
Those observations became prioritized recommendations and a 30-day action plan in the full Competition Checkup.
Each and every Groundwork client gets
01: Scope and terms, locked in writing
We confirm fit, price, and timing up front, then put the scope, payment, and confidentiality terms in a signed agreement before any work begins.
02: A real onboarding, not a form email
We collect the specifics of your business, walk through a short kickoff call, and confirm a start date and delivery date.
03: Research you’d stake your name on
Every finding goes through a quality-control pass before it reaches you, checked against your actual scope and the evidence behind it.
04: Walked through your findings
We deliver the report and then go through the strongest findings, priorities, and who owns what next on a call, followed by a written recap the same day.
05: We check back after you’ve had time to act
Thirty days out, we follow up on what’s actually been implemented and what’s changed.
Included with every report
Prioritized recommendations, responsible party identified, suggested completion dates, a 30-, 60- or 90-day action plan, a findings-review conference, and one follow-up email within seven days.
Groundwork Accuracy Standard
We distinguish verified facts, client-provided information, professional observations and strategic recommendations. Public information is attributed to its available source and reviewed for reasonable accuracy at the time of research. Business conditions, competitor offers, prices and public information may change after the report is completed. Groundwork does not present estimates, assumptions or professional judgments as independently verified facts.
If a client identifies a material factual error in a final report within five business days of delivery, Groundwork will review the supporting information and correct confirmed factual errors at no additional charge. Differences in professional judgment, strategy or interpretation are not factual errors.
